about

After several EPs and LPs widely spread in Canada these past years, Mathematique has an impressive number of concerts and tours in Canada, USA and Europe with the cream of the Canadian and international scene (Trust, Blue Hawaii, Light Asylum, etc.). Montreal artist Pascale Mercier arranges her tunes with a disconcerting ease, releasing her new EP on French label Stellar Kinematics (Opale, Dorcelsius, Hawaii94, Liquid Skulls, BCBG).

Modestly entitled 'Feel', this 3 tracks EP is an invitation to dive into the plural world of Mathematique where synthetic waves add to a futuristic pop and a sweet and intoxicating voice.

In this equation with several unknowns, 'RL Touche' lays the foundation of a dreamy pop with luminous accents where 'Summer, But I Don't Know', futuristic summer hit, is strongly reminiscent of Grimes or Doldrums by the originality of the composition both complex and instinctive, while 'Yawun', a shamanic almost transcendent anthem, sounds like a real expedition to the world of the unconscious where « maybe you'll see the light ».
The EP ends with two remixes. Parisian artist Louise Roam brings an orchestral performance in 'Summer, But I Don't Know' with arrhythmias and games of silence, while the Romanian duo Plurabelle deconstructs 'Yawun', giving it a dark, moist and sensual interpretation.

Mathematique is currently working on her new album coming in late 2014 with Stellar Kinematics. She will also be on tour in Europe, starting in May. The luckiest ones may have seen her live at SXSW, playing solo or as Jef Barbara's drummer.
